The D.Pharm program offered by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at APU, as per regulations of the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), the statutory body governing pharmacy education in India, makes APU one of the PCI-approved colleges.

Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma) is a two-year academic programme streamlined to endow in-depth knowledge of science and technique behind the formulation of pharmacy practice and medicines management. The programme fundamentally provides an overview of the conjecture principles and practices implicated in the science of pharmacy including core subjects like Pharmaceutical Chemistry Pharmacognosy Pharmacology and Pharmaceutics.

The curriculum and syllabi for the programme are as per the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI Approved Colleges) the statutory body governing pharmacy profession in India. In this programme students will gain insights into the chemical and physical properties chemical structure and uses of pharmaceutical formulae. The programme encompasses knowledge about the natural medicines which are obtained from plants, animals, marine and biological sources.

In addition the programme focuses on imparting knowledge about drugs used for different diseases dosage absorption mechanism of action drug action drug interaction adverse reaction. Candidates seeking advanced knowledge in the discipline can apply for higher education.

The programme enables learners to:

  • Diploma in Pharmacy certificate holders may start practicing as pharmacists in India. 
  • They may work at drug stores in Government hospitals, private hospitals, clinics, community health centres or private drug stores. 
  • In such a work setup, they usually check prescriptions (made by the Doctor), dispense drugs to patients, give them advice & directions, keep stock of drugs in storage, keep accounts and maintain the inventory
  • D Pharm certificate holders may even start their own private drug store.
  • Pharmaceutical companies are also known to hire D Pharm folks. In this sector, they may work at divisions/sections like- manufacturing, process control, quality control and marketing. 
  • One may also work as a medical representative.

For National Students

Sr. Secondary (10+2) in PCM/PCB with minimum 50% marks

For International Students
The eligibility criterion for all programs for international applicants is minimum 50% in the qualifying examination and having studied the prerequisite subjects for admission into the desired program

Academic Scholarship
APU extends scholarships and financial assistance to meritorious and talented students based on the basis of qualification previous to eligibility qualification. Continuation of the APU Academic Scholarships are designed to encourage and reward consistently meritorious performance through the duration of the program. The Academic Scholarships will be awarded based on CGPA at the end of each year.

Early Decision Scholarship
The amount of Scholarship also depends on the Phase in which the candidate takes Admission in the University. Admissions in APU is done in four Phases. All the Scholarships awarded will be for a specific year only and for subsequent years, it may continue / discontinue based on performance of the student in qualifying year and Scholarship policy applicable from time to time.

External Scholarship
In order to fund your studies, you will need to undertake careful research – the options available to you will differ, depending on your domicile. There are several government scholarships and stipends on offer from UGC, Central and State Governments extending to the APU Students. 

Admission Process

  • Applicants will have to go through the following process:

    • Submission of completed application form with all relevant enclosures and application fee
    • Review of applications and short-listing of candidates
    • Admission decision taken by the Admission Committee
  • The decision to short-list applicants for a personal interview and make a formal offer of admission thereafter will be taken by the Admission Committee. The committee’s decision in this regard is final and binding.
